Gualberto E. Dato, OD of Manila, the Philippines, who is the 2010 Restoring Sight International Fellowship awardee, recently completed his three month period of advanced training in pediatric optometry at Children's Hospital Boston. He is pictured here receiving his certificate from David G. Hunter, MD, PhD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Dato, Chief of Optometry at the Asian Eye Institute, Manilla, has returned to his home base where he will apply his newly acquired skills in the service of the poor, while continuing his practice of optometry. He will rejoin a superb team of highly trained ophthalmologists and optometrists, a number of whom have received advanced training in Harvard-associated programs in Boston through sponsorship by Restoring Sight International.
Upon leaving Boston Dr. Dato thanked RSI donors who made his educational experience possible and he commented that he is now equipped with new knowledge and skills to serve his patients, especially those in his homeland who cannot afford high quality eye health care.
