About Restoring Sight International (RSI)
Established in 1996, RSI is a not-for-profit
corporation dedicated to the prevention of blindness among the poor in the
United States and the rest of the world through the delivery of quality eye care
services, the treatment of eye diseases, and education. As its first target, RSI has partnered with The
Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (OFPHIL) to address the high incidence of curable
blindness in the Philippines. RSI is currently focused on aiding OFPHIL in its fight against blindness
in the multitude of underpriviledged communities in the Philippines
Our Mission
- administer free eye care to the poor, and/or
- support the advancement of ophthalmology through education and research.
- the establishment of modern eye diagnostic treatment centers, with facilities for cataract
surgery, in economically disadvantaged communities
- training assistance in the areas of clinic design, administration, and procurement
- endowment of training fellowships in ophthalmology for young medical professionals
practicing in disadvanaged communities
- research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of blindness
- eyecare- related community projects through local or international sources, which may
include special OUTREACH programs, subsidy of transportation costs of
indigent patients needing ophthalmic procedures, subsidy of laboratory and
other related expenses, education programs on eye-care and disease
prevention among indigent youth
